Nikon D3500 – What you will like about the camera

Nikon D3500 has been one of the standout cameras in its category since its release. While a lot of camera lovers have been buzzing over the camera’s quality, some others still feel the camera should have offered more. Here are some things you will like about the Nikon D3500 camera.

  • Value for Money – This is one of the things you will appreciate about the camera when you start using it. With its amazing design and top-notch quality, you will only appreciate the camera more for the amount it goes for. While it is not necessarily the cheapest in its class, there are way more expensive cameras in its class that are not even as efficient.
  • Great Image Quality – When it comes to standard cameras, delivery is one of the most important considerations, and the D3500, even beyond expectation, accomplishes this. The camera delivers great image quality even in low-light environments. While one might classify the camera as a beginner-level camera, the 24.2-megapixel APS-C sensor is as high as most APS-C cameras go.
  • Easy to Use – There is usually a plus for cameras that are easy to use. The D3500 was designed and configured to be easy to use, even for beginners.

Nikon D3500: What you may not like about the camera

  • No 4K Video – This is one of the very downsides of this camera. The camera does not get 4K video capability, although it can shoot full HD 1, 920 by 1, 080 at about 60/50 fps. Also, it does not have Wi-Fi, although it has compensating Bluetooth that allows you to transfer images to other Bluetooth-enabled devices.

About Nikon D3500

The Nikon D3500 comes as an update to the largely successful Nikon D3400, which was a starter DSLR that has wowed so many in the camera industry. There are not so many changes made to this camera though. If you are familiar with the D3400 then you know what to expect here, with some welcoming updates. There is a sense of freshness and class with the D3500.

Nikon D3500 is one of the lightest simplest and lightest DSLRs, weighing about 415g, body only, which includes the battery and a memory card. The package comes with a lightweight 18 – 55mm AF-P kit lens which has a retracting mechanism to further make it more portable not in use. Although it is not quite as small as a mirrorless camera, it is quite light and fast enough to show that DSLR designs are still very much adorable.

If you are comparing the Nikon D3500 with mirrorless alternatives, the body will seem quite fat by comparison. While the camera does not offer a good grip on the camera, there is a redesigned button layout at the back that makes it easy to handle without unintentionally pressing keys you don’t want to. It should also be noted that the rear screen is not touch-sensitive, it relies on the physical buttons and dials. The buttons and dials are not difficult or stressful to press though. The screen of the D3500 is fixed, without necessarily a tilting mechanism for low-angle shots. While one would have expected more, this is a compromise for the amount it goes for. The display quality is top-notch and highlights sharp detail and bright colours. The information display is another good bit of the build. The info display shows graphical representations of the shutter speed, lens aperture, and ISO setting fashionably.

The Nikon D3500 boasts an appreciable 24.2-megapixel APS-C sensor. There is also a 5fps continuous shooting speed, an unusually spectacular feature for a camera in its category. Most of its rivals in the same category only manage 3fps. The camera also dons Nikon’s Vibration Reduction system.
