Nokia X30 Review

The tagline of the Nokia X30 states that the device is designed with the aim to preserve the environment. This is why Nokia refers to the device as its most eco-friendly phone yet. The popular mobile phone manufacturer made use of recyclable and recycled materials as much as possible to manufacture this device. One question that seeks an answer is, “asides from the eco-friendliness of this device, is it worth investing in?”

Design and build quality

One glance at the Nokia X30 and you can tell this device looks just as great as the others that are not eco-friendly from the same manufacturer. The aluminum that covers a major part of the device is recycled, and it has a satin finish that hides dings better than high-gloss treatments. Another part of the device that is recycled, even though it is only partially, is the back panel.

Overall, the materials used in the design of this phone ensure that it is not prone to cracking. One of the things that we don’t like so much about the design of this phone is the matte finish on the rear. While the material looks great, it seems to accumulate smudges a lot. The good news is that not all the color options show this uncleanliness.

User interface and performance

As expected of a recently released Android smartphone, the Nokia X30 runs on Android 12. One of the main promises Nokia makes about this device is that users will enjoy OS updates for three years of use. The same applies to security patches, at least for the nearest future.

Truth be told, the fundamentals of this device are not exactly changed. Everything seems to be functional and straightforward. The power button sitting on the right of the device can also help you to launch the Google Assistant. You can do this on standby or from any screen on the device.

The device has a fingerprint reader located under the display, and it is a perfect method for unlocking your device. Google apps pretty much handle all the major functions on the Nokia X30. The device is equipped with a Snapdragon 695 chipset and an octa-core CPU. There are two memory variants of this device, so you can pick the one that suits your purposes.

Camera quality

If you love to shoot videos and photos, then you must be concerned about the camera quality of the Nokia X30. This device only has two cameras behind and one selfie camera. The main camera has a 50MP nominal resolution along with a tetra pixel filter, and 1.0µm pixels.

You should note that this device’s camera does not feature a depth sensor, macro camera, or telephoto. Unlike most of the functions run by Google apps, the camera function is run by Nokia’s custom app. The camera app runs as usual and the daylight pictures are sort of a mixed bag. Saturation is good, but the main camera struggles with its white balance. This means that if you are keen on shooting photos and videos, then you may need to look at another smartphone.
