Infinix Hot 8 vs Infinix Hot 8 Lite – What’s the Difference?

Infinix Hot 8 and Hot 8 Lite are one of the brand’s latest addition to an already packed market. While both phones are not necessarily the very best in their category, they have earned positive reviews in just a short period and test users have appreciated their performance, design and overall functionality. Here are some notable differences and similarities between both phones.

Design and Size

The ‘Lite’ in the latter does not necessarily mean it is smaller. In fact, the Hot 8 Lite is a little bigger than the initial Hot 8 and also boasts a bigger screen to body ratio. This is not a difference a lot of people will note though, especially considering the similar design. The Infinix Hot 8 Lite boasts a polycarbonate body with a modest and stylish finish. It comes in different colours and the back cover features a single colour with slight variations.

Display

In terms of display, there is a slight difference between the two phones. The Infinix Hot 8 Lite features a 6.6-inch HD+ TFT display with a commendable 720 by 1600 resolution while the contemporary Hot 98 features a 6.52-inch IPS LCD Capacitive touchscreen with a resolution of 720 x 1600 pixels and an approximate ~ 269 PPI density. Both displays are full view with tiny bezels and chin.

Camera

While both phones are not the very best phones in their category when it comes to camera quality, they do well enough for the prices they go for. For selfies, both smartphones have 8 MP cameras with a LED flashlight.  The main difference is observed in the back. At the back of the Hot 8 Lite is a dual 8 MP camera with a quad-LED flashlight while the Hot 8 boasts a triple camera setup with a primary camera of 13 MP, a supporting 2 MP and an additional QVGA  for Low light sensor. Both smartphones’ cameras are AI-enabled and come with a PDAF autofocus function as well as an F/1.8 aperture for good shots.

Battery

There is also not much difference in terms of battery capacity. Both phones bags a strong 5000mAh battery capacity, one of the very best in the mid-range category.

Performance

In terms of performance, there is also little to distinguish the Hot 8 from Hot 8 Lite, although they run on slightly different OS and processors. The Hot 8 runs on Quad-core 2.0 GHz Cortex-A53; Octa-core 1.8 GHz Cortex-A53 on the Android 9 OS while the Hot 8 Lite runs on Quad-core 1.3 GHz with Android 8.1 Oreo OS. The Hot 8 comes in two variants, with varying RAM of 2 GB and 4 GB while the Hot 8 Lite features just 2 GB RAM.
