Infinix Note 4 Pro Review

Design & Body

The design of the Note 4 Pro is simple, elegant and classy. When you unbox the device, the first thing that greets your sight is the metallic unibody with curved edges. The smartphone might appear to feel slippery in the hands but you will in no time discover that it feels just great. It’s not as thick or large as the Note 3 such that you can comfortably hold it in one hand. Just below the screen are the home buttons as well as the back and overview buttons which are all onscreen.

The back of the camera sports only the rear camera, the flashlight and the name of the brand embossed on the metal rear. As expected, the power button and volume rockers are positioned on the right while the SIM card tray is on the left. Just below the slot for the SIM cards are three connectors to help you charge the XPen. To handle the charging, you will find the Micro USB port and one speaker grille at the bottom of the device while the 3.5mm headphone jack sits at the top.

Colours

The Infinix Note 4 Pro is available in the following colour options: Champagne Gold, Sandstone Black, Prussian Blue and Lilac Gray. Based on past trends, it’s likely that the black variants of the smartphone will be scarce and have a slightly higher price tag compared to other colours.

Display

The Note 4 Pro features a 5.7 inches IPS LCD display with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels. The pixel density is 386 pixels per inch which offer vivid and bright colours with a good deal of accuracy. The brightness of the display under direct sunlight is also great as the adaptive screen brightness will automatically adjust based on the light around you so you can continue using your phone without any hassle. The screen is also responsive to touch, meaning you won’t experience any issues using a stylus pen.

A closer look at the device will show that its screen is curved which gives it a Samsung Galaxy Edge look so you can have an immersive viewing experience. In all, the display is big enough for media consumption but not too big to operate with one hand.

Battery

When it comes to the battery aspect of the Note 4 Pro, you can rest assured that you’ve got a winner. If you’ve followed the Note devices from Infinix, you will agree that the manufacturer invests a lot into the battery, and it’s not any different with the Note 4 Pro. The device comes with a 4,500mAh battery unit which is 200mAh bigger than the standard Note 4.

Our experience with the battery life of the smartphone shows that it can handle any heavy-handedness you give to it without draining too much juice. A heavy phone user will be satisfied with the device as it can last a day away from the wall socket and can last up to two days for light users. And when your battery is drained, you won’t have any worries still because the device supports XCharge which is a fast charging tech that can top your phone up from 0% to 45% in just 30 minutes.

Camera

Using the same camera optics you will find on the standard Note 4, the Note 4 Pro comes with a 13MP rear shooter with dual-LED flash support for poor light conditions. One of the things we love about the camera is that its colour production is top-notch as it ensures realism instead of producing overblown photos like its contenders. There are different modes to help you get the professional shots you desire like Night, Wide Angle, Night, PIP and Panorama among several others.

The front camera sports an 8MP sensor alongside excellent filters, and can also take crisp and colourful photos. It also comes with an LED flash so you can still take selfies even if you’re in a dark room. We also found out that the camera becomes inactive when it’s unused for 30 seconds which is a good measure against accidental pocket presses.

Processor

Under the hood, the octa-core MediaTek Helio X10 MT6753 is running the operations of the Note 4 Pro and it clocks at 1.3GHz. The device is supported by 3GB of RAM. In terms of the performance of the processor in loading demanding applications, we didn’t experience any issue with it as the chipset handled all the tasks well.

However, the smartphone gets warm under heavy usage which might make you feel uncomfortable with it. Aside from that, the processor delivers a speedy performance and power efficiency that’s way above average.

Other features

The Note 4 Pro comes with the option of using the XPen which is a stylus pen from the manufacturer as it can help you scroll through the phone, take notes, take screenshots and do several other things. Additionally, the fingerprint scanner is embedded in the onscreen home button which unlocks very fast and can be used to open apps, view photo galleries and more.

Conclusion

Admittedly, the Note 4 Pro isn’t quite different from the Note 4 except that it delivers improvements on some of the specs like battery, RAM etc. However, the smartphone has a metallic body that gives it a premium appeal while its internal spec list is ahead of some of its contenders in the midrange category, offering users the opportunity to get more value for less money.
